We welcome visits from Higher and Further Education groups.
Groups can have a self-guided visit exploring the three main areas of the museum:
- Explore fascinating stories of local people, places and artefacts in the Victorian Gallery.
- The Mountain Heritage Trust create displays reflecting the heritage of mountaineering across the world. In 2015 they reflect on the impact of WW1 on mountaineering and celebrate conquering the central buttress of Scafell.
- The Special Exhibition Gallery is a large modern gallery which hosts a variety of exhibitions throughout the year including themes from the Museum & Gallery permanent collections; works by local artists; travelling exhibitions from other museums; exhibitions by local community groups.
Alternatively we also offer learning sessions based on a particular topic. Group leaders can visit the museum for free in advance to plan the visit.
