The museum offers learning opportunities that are inspiring, enjoyable and help develop knowledge and understanding.
Our learning programme is varied, with sessions for all ages and abilities. All sessions are linked to the updated National Curriculum, and are based on the museum collection and exhibitions.
The history, science, art and geology of this area are brought to life through our engaging, interesting and participatory learning sessions. Our ‘hands on history’ approach means that all workshops include object handing, and time to explore the galleries.
We have an exciting new programme of workshops. Alternatively, if you would like to do your own thing, groups can arrange a self-guided visit.
The children really enjoyed the session; I’m sure we’ll be back!

As an Arts Award Centre we can help your students achieve Discover, Explore, Bronze or Silver Awards. See the Arts Award website for more information.
Why not let the museum come to you? Museum staff can come to your school and deliver assemblies or learning sessions based on different parts of the museum collection.
