In June 1940 two prominent women communists, recently dismissed from their jobs in London for their political activities arrived in Howtown pursued by MI5 and the Shap and Caldbeck police.  Did events in Howtown threaten national security?  Dr Rob David (Lecturer, researcher and author) will be revealing this interesting story;  this lecture reveals all, or at least as much as MI5 has made public!
