Keswick’s Textile Heritage

This free exhibition explores the historical production of linen in the Keswick area.

It features a potential textile heritage trail along the River Greta – created by the U3A Textile Heritage Group – which highlights many of the textile related sites which once relied upon the river.

It also looks at wool production, featuring local Low Bridge End Farm which produces the raw material in much the same way as it did 200 years ago. As well as managing 100 acres and a variety of rare sheep breeds, farmer William Chaplin-Brice still clips by hand in the field or on the fell.
