TRUSTEES & CHAIR OF TRUSTEES

21 August 2026

Could you help shape the future of Keswick Museum?

Keswick Museum is looking for Trustees, including a new Chair, to join our Board as we enter an exciting new chapter. We are actively developing our visitor offer, with the ambition of growing our audiences and increasing our sustainable income, while continuing to strengthen our role within the local community.

We are particularly interested in people who can bring experience in areas such as digital development, marketing and communications, fundraising, audience development, legal and governance, education, finance, business or community engagement. But you don’t need to tick every box – we want a Board with a wide range of skills, experiences, backgrounds and perspectives. You don’t need previous experience as a Trustee or in a museum.

We are also looking for an inspirational Chair of Trustees to lead our Board and help us achieve these ambitions. We are looking for an experienced leader who can bring strategic thinking, good judgement, enthusiasm and the ability to bring people together. Experience in museums or heritage is welcome but is not essential – we are particularly interested in what you can bring to the future development of the Museum.

This is a voluntary role, with reasonable expenses covered. If you are enthusiastic about Keswick Museum and would like to contribute to its future, we’d love to hear from you. The recruitment process normally includes an initial discussion with the Chair, a visit to the Museum and an opportunity to attend a Board meeting as a guest. To arrange an initial conversation, please contact: trustees@keswickmuseum.org.uk.

Closing date for Trustees: 30 November 2026
