Varied learning programs for all ages and abilities.
The museum offers learning opportunities that are inspiring, enjoyable and help develop knowledge and understanding. Our learning programs are varied, with sessions for all ages and abilities. All sessions are linked to the updated National Curriculum and are based on the museum collection and exhibitions.

The history, science, art and geology of this area are brought to life through our engaging, interesting and participatory learning sessions. Our ‘hands-on history’ approach means that all workshops include object handing, and time to explore the galleries.

We have an exciting new programme of workshops. Alternatively, if you would like to do your own thing, groups can arrange a self-guided visit.
“I would never go anywhere else for my trip in Autumn term. Staff are so lovely and helpful when booking, and when you’re there too. The workshops were appropriate yet challenged and extended pupils’ knowledge whilst being incredibly engaging. My pupils all loved it and I will continue to visit with my class. The staff go above and beyond to make the visit fantastic, even linking us with English Heritage for a tour of Castlerigg Stone Circle. This year’s workshop was the best we had attended as pupils were together in one group and even got to make their own trilobite fossil! Thank you again, one of the best trips I’ve attended!”
