We are 5 minutes walk from the centre of Keswick, located on the edge of Fitz Park on Station Road.

On foot

From Keswick Town Centre:

  • We are 5 minutes walk from the Moot Hall in the centre of Keswick.
  • Take the south east lane out of the market place onto Station Street.
  • Follow Station Street east and across the pedestrian crossing onto Station Road. The pedestrian crossing is located on the same corner as the War Memorial.
  • Continue along Station Road, passing the Youth Hostel Association (YHA) on your left and crossing the River Greta
  • Find us on your left hand side beside Fitz Park, where other amenities are also available, such as our lovely neighbours and colleagues Café West.

Please note that dogs are not permitted in the museum

Transport

By Bus

  • Service X4/5: Workington to Penrith. This service stops along Penrith Road and it is then a quick walk through the park to us.
  • Service 555: Lancaster to Keswick. This service also stops along Penrith Road and it is then a quick walk through the park to us.
  • Service 87: Keswick to Seatoller. This service will stop at the bus station location at Booths shop, Tithebarn Street, taking a 15 minute walk to the museum via the main street.

By Cycle

  • Follow the above instructions for location.
  • We have cycle racks available next to our Lower Fitz Park (rear) entrance.

By Train

  • The nearest train stations are Workington and Penrith, where connections to bus routes to Keswick (see above) can be picked up.

Keswick train station no longer is in use, but what you can find instead is a lovely flat walk to Threlkeld! Why not add this into your day out visiting the museum?

Parking

  • There is free disk parking for 2 hours on Station Road outside the museum. A parking disk (provided in boxes on Station Road) must be clearly displayed in your vehicle.
  • There are Pay & Display car parks:
    • Behind the Leisure Centre (100m)
    • Across the park on Crosthwaite Road (300m)
    • In the centre of Keswick (400m)
