Exciting activities designed to stimulate children’s interest.

Museum based learning sessions

• Typically, sessions last 2 hours and must be booked in advance.
• The cost is £4 per pupil, Staff and Teachers are free.
• Book before July 31st for the following academic year or a visit for before October half term and
receive a 25% discount.
• Lunch space is available free of charge by prior arrangement.
• Keswick Museum can also help support visits to other sites locally, such as Castlerigg stone circle, and provide a base to explore the Keswick to Threlkeld Railway, Latrigg, and Fitz Park.

Stone Age – Discover authentic source material like Neolithic Axes; handle and explore replica
domestic objects to get a sense of how our Prehistoric ancestors lived and survived.

Rocks and Fossils – Create your own trilobite fossil and explore what is under your feet; deepen
your understanding of the Cumbrian landscape with the Museum’s geology and mineral
collections.

Victorians – Learn about the stories of people who lived, worked and holidayed in Keswick during
the Victorian period. Discover the Museum’s origins as a collection of curious objects, and how
transportation and tourism reshaped the town.

EYFS Discovery – A perfect introduction to Keswick Museum. These sessions feature a storytelling
element to help introduce us to the Museum collection. We will then explore the ‘Discovery
Boxes’ and fun elements of the galleries, before getting a closer look and ‘touch tour’ of part of
the collection. Themes can be adapted to fit the learning focus of your group.

 

Loan Boxes

These are available to hire on either a 2-week loan or half term loan. Please enquire about
availability and cost.
